First Base

Anyone who knows me knows I love a good eye shadow look. Whether it's a simple all over the lid sweep of color or a smoky eye I have to blend out for 10 minutes, I sometimes feel a little under dressed without something on my lids.
One of the most vital steps in securing the long-wear of a shadow look is a good base. Here are my 3
personal favorite, go-to eye shadow base.

   1. MAC's Paint Pot in Painterly
This is my every day base. It matches my skin tone perfectly, so it not only primes my lids for long lasting shadow, but it also covers any redness or veins. I even apply this sometimes when I am not wearing anything on my lid, just for the coverage and brightening. These Paint Pots come in all different colors to suit all different skin types, and they even have some shimmery and color options if you want to mix it up or wear the product alone as a shadow. It also should be noted that a little goes a long way with this paint pot and you get a ton of product in the jar, so this base will last you a very long time.

   2. bareMinerals Prime Time Eyelid Primer
This primer is my heavy duty base. This is what I reach for when I know I want my shadow to really stay put. For example: if I'm rocking a smoky eye for what will be a late-night party, this is what I use. This stuff is so good that I've woken up the next morning with my eye shadow perfectly intact and without any creases. That's what I call quality.

3. Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze

Technically an eye shadow, this little of pot of gold or bronze, I know) is the best colored base around. Not only is it the most affordable of my 3, but its an absolutely gorgeous color with a flattering shimmer. With the same idea as the MAC paint pot, this little guy can be used as a shadow or base. I love using it as a base for darker eye shadow looks, but I almost love it even more on its own as a super easy and gorgeous all
over the lid color.

What is your favorite eye shadow base?

xx Mollie
