Ipsy Bag: October 2014

October 16, 2014

Subscription bags & boxes are all the rage right now. You can get subscriptions for cooking products, treats for your dog, lifestyle goodies, or even beauty and makeup!
I personally think Ipsy is one of the premier beauty subscription bags out there. For $10/month you get 5 mostly full sized products. I saw mostly because I have had and seen bags with all full size, and I have had bags that have all full size except for one. The great thing about these bags is you get much more than $10 worth of products, and it's a fun way to discover and try new products or brands. The way they determine what kind of products you get is determined by a little quiz when you subscribe, which is great because you get stuff that you would most likely use.
Ipsy bags always have a theme each month too, which is a fun way to shake it up. This month's theme is "Beauty Candy."
Here is what I got in my October 2014 Ipsy Bag:

Figs and Rouge Hand Cream in Rose Berry
This stuff smells divine. This is an original size product is the smaller size, but it is perfect to keep in your handbag. I love the packaging in a bit of a vintage metal tube. The scent is nice and not overpowering, and it also keeps my hands happy and moisturized.
This product retails originally for $6.56

Indie Lee's Brightening Cleanser
This cleanser is okay. It made my skin really soft and smelled nice. I don't think there is enough to see any kind of "brightening" results. I definitely wouldn't use this as a cleanser to remove your makeup either, but maybe something to use after removing. I mostly feel a bit "meh" about it.
The original size of this product is 4 oz and is $32, so this 15 ml simple size would retail for around $4.

Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in "On a Gilt Trip"
I think getting a nail polish in the Ipsy bag is awesome, Mostly because I love painting my nails and trying new colors. I have always loved these Nicole by OPI polishes, so I was excited to see it was included. The color I got it a really pretty gold color with subtle shimmer. I think I will wear this A LOT around the holidays especially. It also dries slightly matte which is neat with the shimmer!
This is a full size nail polish, and it retails for $6.99

Noyah Lipstick in "Deeply in Mauve"
So the color of this is pretty and appropriate for fall, so I will give them that, but this is probably my least favorite thing in my bag this month. First of all it's a major sample size. It's so small, you hardly get an product and it looks ridiculous. The other thing is, it's made of natural ingredients, which should be awesome, but it smells awful. The smell reminds me of pencil shavings, which isn't ideal when your lips are right under your nose. The color is really, really dark, but it is very pretty. Especially if you're into vamp-style makeup looks. Mostly, I think this is a major fail.
The full size product retails for $18.. and I couldn't figure out the value of the tiny sample so let's say the sample is valued at $1.50?

Skone Cosmetics TATTOOED Waterproof Eyeliner
I was also excited for this product, as it seemed to be a dupe for the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner... and IT IS! I love this. It is a felt tip black eyeliner that it super easy to apply, I think it's even easier than the Stila one. It's very matte, and very black and it's been foolproof thus far! I'm digging it.
This is a full size product that retails for $15.

I payed $10 for this bag, and the value of the entire contents is around (I say "around" because of the lipstick) a $34 total value. What a steal!

Have you tried any subscription bags/boxes that you like?

xx Mollie
