My Simple, Subtle Cat-Eye

I love the idea of a subtle black cat-eye and sheer cherry lips in the summer time.
It's very "Lolita" or Marilyn look and it's an easy way to make your look a little more special without anything too over-done.

The cat-eye style has been around for years and years and is definitely a classic. Revived by Lauren Conrad, and rocked by everyone from Michelle Obama to my sister on-the-daily, it's also one of the most customizable looks that can suit nearly everyone.

Here is the way I personally like to apply a subtle cat-eye with liquid liner:

I love liquid liner with a felt tip. My two favorites are L'Oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Liner in Black, as well as Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Black.

I like to start with the "flick" or "tail" of the wing.

I line up the starting part of the flick with the end of my eyebrow, and start to draw it from where my lid has a natural crease, down to my lashes.

Once I tackle one side I try to do the exact same thing on my other eye, while keeping it even.

*If you don't have much practice with liner or cat flicks, do not be discouraged! & keep some cotton buds & make up remover close to clean up an oopsies*

Once the flicks look even, I draw the connecting line on my top lash line. I start near my inner corner, and draw the line to where it connects with the flick. I like to make this portion in a bit of a "swoop" so it looks more like a subtle half moon instead of a stick-straight line.

After I have the basic outline, I make sure the "flicks" and "swoops" look even.
Add some mascara and voila! You have a subtle, cute, & classy cat-eye.

I hope this method helps out some of you beginners out there.
What are your favorite method's for apply a subtle cat-eye?

xoxo Mollie

  2. Never tried out liquid liner cause I am too scared it will turn out disastrous! (me being me, it probably will). But maybe I will know. You make it sounds so easy! :)

  3. This looks really great, I need to practice liquid eyeliner, I rely majorly on cotton buds to clean up the wonky-ness! x

  4. I like a very thin line but I am not good at applying eyeliner so I don't even try to wear it. Great post.

  7. I agree with you, the black winged eyeliner and red lips is such a classic and lovely look. I've been nervous of the black winged eyeliner myself, but I'll definitely give your simple take on it a try.
