Up-Cycling Old Candle Jars

Every once in a while, you may get a little crazy, have a couple of gift cards, and spend way too much on a fancy candle (me).

Now that the heavenly candle scent is gone, doesn't mean the iconic label & the jar that held the wax have to be tossed into the trash!

I took the opportunity of this situation, and combined it with another need: a lack of place to store brushes.

I found a couple of articles online of how to remove excess wax/ clean old candle containers to use for storage online and a lot of them were a little intense for me. Some involved sharp knives and fire... and I was just not interested.

Luckily I stumbled upon probably the easiest and most efficient solution with the least amount of steps:

1. Remove the wick/metal wick holder (I did this with a fork and it popped right out).
2. Fill up candle jar with hot tap water and let sit for 10 minutes.
3. Pour out remaining water through a collander (to prevent wax from clogging up your drai)
4. Wipe out the excess wax/soot with a paper towel

Voila!

Now I have a pretty brush holder in my bathroom. Pretty & organized! Plus finding brushes in the morning has been SO much easier!

What are your favorite up-cycling projects?

xoxo Mollie
