Ways to Stay Happy During the Winter

After Christmas, the winter can be a very weird time. It get's darker, colder, and something seems a bit absent when the Holiday lights turn off the decor comes down. This time of year can be super confusing and hard for some people. You may feel like you just want to go into hibernation, but it is important to stay active and seek out ways to enjoy this time of year. Here are my top tips on how to make late winter more enjoyable and stay happy:

Get Active
I know it's hard after the New Year not only because of all of the calories consumed over the holidays, but also the crowding of the gyms during the New Years resolution spike, but getting your muscles in motion and some exercise in can do absolute wonders for your health and mood during the winter. You can do yoga at home, try a new group class, or even go for a jog, but just get moving! I personally think this is the most important to feel healthy and happy during this time.

Hydrate
Winter is cold and since that coldness can encompass wind and less general sunlight, drinking lots of water is important to keep you feeling and looking your best. This will help with skin that looks dull or dry, and you will overall just feel better when getting your daily 64 ounces (or more!)

Embrace the Cozy
Try a new comforting recipe, light some candles, put on your favorite warming outfit and just enjoy the coziness of this time of year! Not only can the aesthetic be cozy, but think about the clothes: oversized scarves, faux fur jackets, tall boots - it's a fashion lovers dream!

Enjoy the Events
There are so many great award shows and sporting events this time of year, it's the perfect excuse to get together with friends and enjoy all together. Whether you go to the movies to check out the nominated films, or play hostess to a superbowl party, there are so many fun reasons to turn these events into a fun activity.

  1. Active for sure! I went snowboarding last weekend when it was below 0 and when I was moving I was fine, but once I stopped it was a nightmare. Love that blush scarf!
