My Health & Wellness Routine

As I've touched on before, I really enjoy working out. I love to run, use machines at the gym, practice yoga, pilates, and do circuit training and bootcamp classes. I've also done barre classes, spin, and pound fit. Basically, there is nothing I don't love to try, but I feel like lately I've gotten a good hold on a healthy routine that I really, really love.

I always start off my day with vitamins and supplements. I feel like figuring out which supplements work best for me has really helped with my energy levels and make me feel good about specific items of concern like heart health. I love Care/Of because they send me my monthly supply of vitamins split up into daily packs, which makes it so easy. If you're interested in trying Care/Of, I have a code for a free month (Z4DUE) that you can enter at checkout. That code is only good for a handful of people, but you can use another code (lovin) to get 50% off your first month.

As far as exercise goes, I always try to take a walk during my work day over lunch. I love getting outside and getting some steps in. It's a nice break and gives me a burst of energy for the rest of the day. I prefer to do my big workout in the evening, after work, because if I try to do it first thing in the morning, I feel like I am not awake yet and do not get the most out of my exercise.

Two-to-Three days a week, I try to attend my bootcamp class. It's a circuit-based workout that focuses on weight-training and plyometric cardio movements. At least two days a week, I like to do some straight cardio, like running. I have a great park by my home that I really enjoy running in, and it's nice to get out and move my muscles. The rest of the week I enjoy doing yoga or pilates (Tone It Up and Blogilates both have great videos on YouTube for at-home workouts.

Something else that I use is the Sweat by Kayla Itsines app. It has amazing circuit workouts that really work my entire body that I can do at home. It also tracks your steps, gives you HIIT cardio workouts that I love to use when I go for runs, rep challenges, and has tons of nutritious recipes for the week. I love doing the circuit workouts if I can't make it to bootcamp or would rather do my intense training at home. Just because I can do it at home, it still really works out my body hard!

(A side note: I know a lot of people complain about the Sweat app price, $20/month. I'm very lucky that the cost of my bootcamp per month is extremely low, so the combined cost of paying for that + the app monthly is still very affordable and still much cheaper than I paid monthly for my last gym. Not that you needed to know, but something I wanted to touch on.)

Lastly, I haven't done too much in the changing the way I eat department, except I am much more mindful. If there is something I am craving, I will have it, but just in moderation. I try to steer clear from anything that is processed or has too much sugar in it. I started reading Eat Pretty, Every Day, and although it hasn't drastically changed the way I eat, it does make me think and be much more mindful about what I am putting into my body. Since I've started thinking through my food choices more, I have absolutely noticed a change in how I feel.

I know that was a bit winded, but those are all of my health and wellness updates for the moment. Stay tuned for a post covering what vitamins and supplements I take and why, coming later this week.

What is your favorite wellness routine in your week?

  3. Interesting. I've just started working out again. I used to like working out in the evenings but ended up finding that I would get tired a lot faster. But it's still the best time to work out! XD

    1. I actually think you are supposed to work out in the mornings for it to rev up your metabolism, but I just find that I am not at all awake yet when I do that! Thanks for stopping by!
